Fall
In the fall there is a slight chill. Most remarkable is how is it feels in the woods, it’s as if time has slowed down. This is the time for hikes, as one is sure to see animals scurry around getting ready for winter. This is historically the time for people to get ready as well, to smoke, salt and preserve the recent harvest for the winter to come.

Hiking
Discover Tornedalen by foot. Arthotel owns a large amount of land which is part of our local preservation project. With a guide you’ll get to the best spots and likely get to take in a range of the local wildlife. Our knowledgeable nature-guide will teach you all about the history of these woods, as well as open for discussion about contemporary methods of forestry.

Tornedalen by bike
Another way to discover Tornedalen is to peddle one’s way through it. Take aim at the Arctic circle where you’ll cross a line not many have crossed.
This is a perfect opportunity to learn more about Struves meridian arc, a momentous measuring-project in the 1800s set to determine the size and shape of the earth.
You can also bike the other way, down to Kukkolaforsen.

Outdoor cooking
We make you a three-course dinner over the open fire, out in the forest next to our Tower. You get to see your meal being made right in front of you, while warming yourself next to the warming flames.

A night at the Tower
One of our most popular experiences because it’s a chance of a lifetime. You’ll camp in the tower for a night, which means that by morning you’re intertwined with the woods. Chances are high that you’ll see moose, fox and hare. A lucky few have even spotted the evasive lynx. The activity is only available for guests already staying at Arthotel
Arthotel will get you there and provides everything you need, from sleeping bags to provisions.
